Unlock a DirecTV Receiver
Depending upon what you want to accomplish, there are several different methods of unlocking a DirecTV receiver. You can temporarily release a restriction for a specific channel or program. You can temporarily unlock all restrictions for a period of four hours. Or you can permanently unlock some or all of the restrictions. In order to perform any of these tasks, however, you need to know the security pass code that was used when the Parental Control settings were configured.
Instructions
Temporarily Unlock DirecTV Receiver for a Specific Channel or Program
1. Turn on the DirecTV receiver along with the TV.
2. Tune the DirecTV receiver to a channel, or TV program with a rating threshold, that has been restricted in the receiver's Parental Control settings. Unlock Now automatically appears on the TV monitor whenever anyone turns the receiver to a blocked channel or program.
3. Press Select on the DirecTV remote.
4. Enter the security pass code.
Temporarily Unlock All Restrictions on DirecTV Receiver for 4 Hours
5. Turn on the DirecTV receiver along with the TV.
6. Aim the DirecTV remote control at the receiver and press Menu.
7. Use the arrow buttons on the remote to highlight Parental Controls, Fav's Setup. Press Select. Use the arrow buttons on the remote to highlight Parental Controls. Press Select.
8. Highlight Unlock 4 Hours. Press Select.
9. Enter the security pass code.
Permanently Unlock All Restrictions on DirecTV Receiver
10. Turn on the DirecTV receiver along with the TV.
11. Aim the DirecTV remote control at the receiver and press Menu.
12. Use the arrow buttons on the remote to highlight Parental Controls, Fav's Setup. Press Select. Use the arrow buttons on the remote to highlight Parental Controls. Press Select.
13. Highlight Unlock All. Press Select.
14. Enter the security pass code.
Permanently Unlock Select Restrictions on DirecTV Receiver
15. Turn on the DirecTV receiver along with the TV.
16. Aim the DirecTV remote control at the receiver and press Menu.
17.Use the arrow buttons on the remote to highlight Parental Controls, Fav's Setup. Press Select. Use the arrow buttons on the remote to highlight Parental Controls. Press Select. Highlight Edit Settings. Press Select.
18. Highlight the setting you'd like to unlock: Ratings, Chan Block, Spending (refers to limits on pay-per-view spending), or Hours (refers to the restriction on TV viewing hours). Press Select.
19. Enter the security pass code. Use the arrow buttons on the remote to highlight the option which removes the restriction. Press Select.
