Audi is a popular German automobile company that has been around since 1932. The car company has won many awards throughout the years, according to Audi World News, including the most recent on November 18, 2010, when the Audi R8 Spyder won the Euro Car Body Award. An Audi model with a V6 engine is one option -- at least eleven different models in their vehicle lineup come as standard with the six-cylinder engine.
Audi Models with V6 engines
Not all Audi models come with a V6 engine. Only the A3, A4, and A5 models do not come with a V6, unless you opt for the S-type of one of those vehicles, in which case the engine is a V6. S type models are more expensive than their non-S type counterparts. The S stands for supercharged. These engines are more powerful due to the direct fuel injection to the engine.
V6 Specifications
A V6 engine means a 6-cylinder, V shaped engine. The more cylinders an engine has, the faster that the car will be able to go in a shorter amount of time. This same principle holds true in the amount of liters an engine holds. For Audi-specific engines, the 4.2 liter engine can accelerate from 0-60 mph in 5.8 seconds, while the 3.2 liter engine takes 6.9 seconds for the same test.
Timing Specs
An Audi that has a V6 engine will be able to have a more aggressive and powerful output than a car with a lower cylinder count. Audi cars with V6 engines are able to accelerate from 0-60 mph in at least 6 seconds. That is an acceleration ratio of 10 miles per hour every second. S-type engines, being supercharged, are 3.0 liter engines with six cylinders, and accelerate from 0-60 mph in 4.9 seconds.
