Hoot System, Aeration Problem?
We have a 3yr old hoot septic which has given us nothing but problems. The latest is an aeration problem (?) according to the idiot light display. Is this something I can take care of myself? I just don't have the extra $$$ for a septic company to come out and fix it. I will be the first to say, but I have no idea what type of system you have. Can you give more info in complete detail of how your system is set up, and how it differs from other systems so that we can help you? I am sure we all could learn from it. I'd love to be able to explain it! Its such a frustrating piece of equipment, I'd really like to just fill it in and forget about it. From what I know about it - it has 3 tanks - waste goes into the first tank, is filtered thru the second tank, then turned into water in the 3rd tank where its emptied into the yard thru our sprinkler. It has a display that sticks up out of the ground near a small pump with various warning lights on it. Right now, the aeration problem light is lite. If I turn off power and flip the switch the sprinklers will come on - right now, smells horrible! Right now, the aeration problem light is lite. With it saying aeration problem can be the motor or the blade. If its an air one, motor or the compressor is out . If you dont want to call someone Id look into the above and see what you find Dont know why you have so much trouble with it . We ha ve used them for years NOT ANY CALLED HOOT?? ED I have the same problem with my HOOT system. The aeration light is on and I think it is because the pump got wet in the last rainstorm we had. Is it possible that the tank was improperly installed too low into the ground? There are a lot of people in my area who have the Hoot system and I have never heard of any problems like you describe. I think that the product is great, but it needs a qualified installer and maintenance company. Whatever contractor installed your system probably didn't bury the drip lines deep enough. I live next to a river and the Hoot was the only system inspectors would allow. I know this is late but perhaps it will help someone else. the aeration problem you refer to may be the areation pump that sits on top of the system. The pump has failed or the tubing has come loose and is not suppling air to the system. May need a repair kit (membrane replacement) it is very easy to replace, but I have not found a place to buy them yet. I have had it replaced by a service provider. If I find the kit (Troy-air 500a pump is the one my system uses) I will post it later. good Luck
