Waterproof your cushions so they last longer.
Waterproofing your outdoor chair cushions can help ensure that your patio furniture is always ready to use, no matter what the weather. After even the briefest rain storm, untreated chair cushions can become a sopping wet mess. By waterproofing, you can get more enjoyment from your outdoor furniture and patio umbrella and prevent soaking your clothes.
Instructions
1. Clean all cushions if they are soiled.
2. Let dry thoroughly.
3. Place the chair cushions outdoors on a clean, flat surface and spray the front of the cushions.
4. Hold the spray can at 6 to 8 inches from the surface of the cushions and spray with a steady, continuous stroke. There is no need to saturate the cushions with the spray.
5. Wait at least three hours for the cushions to dry completely.
6. Flip them over and spray the reverse side.
7. Apply two coats to each side of the cushions.
8. Let dry thoroughly.
Tips Warnings
Buy waterproofing spray at a sporting goods store or in the camping sections of other stores. Campers use waterproofing products on their tents, and you'll find it works just as well on your patio or deck furniture.
Waterproofing spray can last up to 6 months, but you'll need to reapply it if you wash the cushions or if the cushions are used frequently. If your experiencing a particularly rainy season, reapply the stain after two or three months.
Waterproofing spray is flammable. Don't use it around open flames or indoors.
