Vitamins That Clear Acne

Before using too many harsh skin clearing chemicals, try a dose of these skin-friendly vitamins. The right diet and/or supplement regimen can go a long way to improving the look and feel of your skin.

Vitamin A (with carotenoids)

Vitamin A reinforces and rebuilds skin tissue, which in turn works to prevent breakouts. It also functions as an antioxidant that detoxifies skin. Too little vitamin A in the body can be a cause of acne. Take caution: Vitamin A overdose can cause nausea, irritability, vomiting and headaches.

Vitamin B Complex

When taken together, a variety of B vitamins can improve skin tone and ward off acne. These vitamins work to release stress, improve skin circulation, boost the immune system and detoxify the body with antioxidants.

Vitamin C with bioflavonoids

Vitamin C isn't just good for colds. Its immune-boosting, infection-fighting, antioxidant properties are great for clear skin. It also has a helpful anti-inflammatory effect.

Vitamin E

This antioxidant repairs and prevents tissue damage by fighting free radicals.

Chromium and zinc

These two minerals are worthwhile additions to a skin supplement regimen. Chromium (taken as chromium picolinate or chromium polynicotinate) fights infections while zinc regulates oil glands to prevent scarring.
