Use Vitex

Vitex is a type of nutritional supplement that is used widely in Europe. Vitex is a plant indigenous to the Mediterranean region and the supplement is derived from the plant's dried fruit. It has been used specifically by women as a way to improve problems with their menstrual cycle, including PMS, heavy menstrual bleeding and menopause symptoms. Speak to your doctor before using Vitex as a supplement.

Instructions

1. Purchase Vitex from a nutritional supplement store. You can find a low price on Vitex through Lucky Vitamin, an online supplier that sells 100 capsule bottles of Nature's Way Vitex.

2. Start by taking one to three capsules daily. Vitex manufacturers recommend that you consume one to three capsules each day for the first 8 to 12 weeks of using the supplement. Take one capsule every four to six hours apart during this initial cycle.

3. Decrease your dosage of Vitex. After the initial 8 to 12 weeks, you will only need to take a single capsule of Vitex in order for the supplement to work. Manufacturers recommend that you stay on Vitex for an extended period of time since it may take a long time to work.

4. Consume each dose with a full glass of water. If you find that the Vitex upsets your stomach, take the supplement with food.

5. Stop taking Vitex if you develop any side effects from the supplement. Potential side effects include rash, headache, nausea, vomiting and breakthrough bleeding between periods. Also, let your doctor know of any medications you are currently taking in order to avoid drug interactions.
