Stretched Hinge Repair
Hinges that are stretched out on eyeglasses can be adjusted using a pair of small pliers. Place some masking or duct tape over the pliers to prevent scratching the frame. Gently but firmly squeeze the pliers while bending the hinge into place. Another method is to place a tiny rubber band (available in an eyeglass repair kit or stationary store) over the hinge to hold it in place.
Broken Hinge Repair
A broken hinge can be repaired by using super or bonding glue. First, use an abrasive pad to scrape off any surface material. Use a small amount of glue to hold the break for at least 60 seconds until the glue bonds and dries.
Lost Hinge Wing Replacement
A cheap pair of eyeglass frames from a place such as a dollar store, drug store or discount all purpose store can be used to replace a lost or badly broken hinge wing. Choose a pair of glasses that most easily matches or will fit the broken ones. Unscrew the hinge wing and replace the broken or lost one with it. Keep the newly bought frame in case you need it for other future repairs.
