Take Cranberry Supplements During Pregnancy

During your pregnancy, your two main concerns are keeping yourself and your growing baby as healthy as possible. Perhaps you wonder whether cranberry juice or supplements can be taken during pregnancy. As of late 2009, no warnings exist for pregnant women against cranberry supplements. Of course, moderation is the key, and you should consume only as much as would be found in your everyday diet. Add cranberry supplements to your diet by taking capsules or drinking juice. If you're interested in taking cranberry supplements during your pregnancy, the following guidelines can help you.

Instructions

Cranberry Supplement Capsules

1. Choose which form of cranberry supplements you want to take. The form you choose to take should depend on your personal schedule and preferences. No one form has been proven more effective than another. The capsule form is widely available.

2. Cranberry supplements in capsule form should be taken twice a day. Take them one hour before breakfast and dinner, swallowing one 400-milligram capsule with plenty of water.

3. If you forget to take the cranberry supplement before eating, wait until two hours after eating breakfast or dinner. Swallow the capsule with water.

Cranberry Juice or Concentrate

4. Drink cranberry juice cocktail at any time during the day. You may prefer to drink a 5-ounce glass with one meal, and then drink another 5-ounce glass mid-afternoon, but that's entirely up to you.

5. Dilute the pure unsweetened cranberry juice with water if you find the flavor too strong. Drink the juice with a meal or on its own.

6. If you choose to use frozen cranberry juice concentrate, dilute 3 ounces with water following the instructions on the label. Drink throughout the day.
