Treat Seizure Disorder With Vitamin Therapy

Physicians are starting to recognize the benefits that vitamins provide for patients. Vitamin therapy is gaining popularity as a natural way to treat various conditions and diseases, including seizures, without the nasty side effects that prescription meds may bring. Beginning a vitamin therapy can give you the needed nutrients that your body is lacking as well as aiding in the treatment of seizures. Never start any vitamin supplements without first consulting your primary care physician.

Instructions

1. The amino acid known as taurine is said to play a key part in the electrical activities that go on in the brain. Some people who suffer from epilepsy have shown to have a taurine deficit in their brain. Adding a taurine supplement may reduce the frequency of seizures, but it appears to be only temporary.

2. Adding 400 IU a day of vitamin E supplement to your other drug treatment has shown to reduce the frequency of seizures in both adults and children.

3. Vitamin B6 supplement has been used to treat children and infants that experience certain types of seizures. The effects if vitamin B6 on epilepsy is not known.

4. Taking 5 mg of folic acid a day has been reported to reduce the frequency of seizures. In some people taking folic acid may interfere with anticonvulsant medications and cause an increase in seizures.
