Make Homemade Gummi Bears

Gelatin produces these chewy gummy bears.

Like most food sellers, the makers of gummi, or gummy bears, don't care to share the production process. However, Haribo, the company behind the original bears, does admit that gelatin makes the bears "gummi." They also contain fructose syrup, but you don't need that to make a suitable home version.

Instructions

1. Mix the jello, which provides the flavor, and the gelatin together in a small saucepan.

2. Add 1/2 cup cold water to the mix. Use a spatula to stir it until it gets thick.

3. Place the pan over medium heat. Stir the mix until it melts.

4. Pour the mix into the molds.

5. Freeze the molds for at least 10 minutes. The candy is ready when it feels firm. Shake them out of the molds and let them warm up a bit to room temperature.
