Vitamins specifically for women's health are essential in promoting balanced hormone and immune system.


Many women do not realize it, but they need different vitamins and nutrients than men. Women have a different hormones and metabolism than men, which require certain nutrients to function efficiently. Therefore, women should consider formulas that are made specifically for women and individual health concerns. Vitamins that balance hormones, support the immune system, boost antioxidants, and maintain bone mass are necessary in any women's vitamin arsenal. Calcium


Women usually need 1,000 to 1,500 mg of calcium each day to promote healthy bone mass. As a women ages, she tends to lose bone mass. If you are a women past menopause, you will require less iron; unless otherwise stated by your doctor, you should look for a multivitamin without iron.


Vitamin A


Vitamin A is essential for healthy bones, boosting the immune system and contains beta-carotene which promotes eye health and strengthening vision in the dark. Vitamin A also promotes the growth and health of all the body's cells and tissues. Food such as eggs, fish oil, milk, yellow, red, orange fruits and vegetables are abundant in vitamin A.


Vitamin E


Vitamin E is essential for women as an antioxidant and may prevent the progression of illnesses such as heart disease, cataracts and some types of cancer. Foods such as nuts, seeds, wheat germ, leafy green vegetables and vegetable oil, are rich in vitamin E.


Folic Acid


Folic acid is vital for women who are pregnant or trying to become pregnant; as low levels of folic acid can lead to birth defects, affecting the spinal cord and brain of the child. In addition, folic acid is essential for producing DNA and RNA. Folic Acid is found in supplements, and foods including some fruits, wheat germ, orange juice, beans, green vegetables, flour, and bread.
