What Type Of Vitamins Do I Need

What Type of Vitamins Do I Need?

The human body requires a range of vitamins to function at its best. Since many people do not get enough of these vitamins in their diet, it is often necessary to take a vitamin supplement to make up the difference. The most commonly supplemented vitamins are A, C, E, and a group of nutrients known as the B vitamins.

Function

Vitamins serve a variety of functions in the human body, including regulating metabolism and preventing disease. It is important to ingest vitamins on a regular basis to experience their benefits.

Misconceptions

Some people mistakenly think that it's necessary for everyone to take vitamin supplements. Since vitamins are found abundantly in fresh fruits and vegetables, a diet rich in these foods may provide enough nutrition by itself.

Considerations

Different ages and sexes tend to have a range of vitamin deficiencies. There are many different types of multivitamin supplements tailored to the heath needs to specific demographics. Ask your doctor if this would be appropriate for you.

Warning

Although vitamins are beneficial and necessary for the body, it is possible to take too many of them. Do not take more then recommended, as this will not increase benefit and could be dangerous.

Types of Vitamins

Your body needs 13 vitamins, of which it produces two, D and K. The other vitamins necessary for proper biological functions are Vitamins A, C, E, and the B vitamins. (Ref. 3.)
