Nutrional Value Of Foods With Vitamin K

Vitamin K is an essential, fat-soluble vitamin that is necessary for a number of vital functions in the body, such as blood coagulation and healthy growth in infants. One of the most effective and convenient ways to meet the body's requirements for this vitamin is through your diet.


Leafy Green Vegetables


Leafy green vegetables such as spinach, kale and broccoli are major food sources of Vitamin K, and can supply almost half of your daily requirement of this vitamin.


Fruit


Although not as rich a nutritional source of Vitamin K, many fruits do offer good amounts of the vitamin, including blueberries, blackberries, cranberry juice, grapes, plums, avocados, pears and prunes.


Dairy


Milk and other dairy products such as cheese, butter and yogurt are a good nutritional source of Vitamin K, with cow's milk having a higher content of the vitamin than human milk.


Soybeans


Soybean milk and soy oil can be consumed to provide the body with good quantities of vitamin K.


Herbs


A number of herbs, which can be used as seasoning condiments for various dishes, contain high concentrations of Vitamin K, such as basil, parsley, oregano, thyme and sage.
