What Is Norwegian Cod Liver Oil Good for?


Norwegian Cod Liver Oil is harvested fresh from North Atlantic cod fish living in the arctic waters along the coast of Norway. The oil is separated from the livers without the use of chemicals. Vitamin E and nitrogen gas are often added to the product to retain freshness. It contains large amounts of long-chain omega-3 fatty acids, Vitamin A, Vitamin D, and small amounts of Vitamin K. DHA and EPA, the primary fatty acids in cod liver oil, help develop the brain and nervous system. Vitamin D from fish oil helps build strong bones in children and helps prevent osteoarthritis in adults. Cod liver oil prevents learning disabilities in children.


Heart health


Cod liver oil greatly improves heart function. It can prevent heart disease and be used as a treatment after a heart attack or surgery. Nursing mothers who take cod liver oil have richer breast milk, increased levels of Vitamin A in their milk, and the milk promotes optimal brain development in nursing babies.


Interestingly, cod liver oil was routinely recommended for infant nutrition beginning at the age of three weeks back in the 1930's and 40's. Dr. Benjamin Spock threw out this practice in the 1950's and instead recommended vaccinations.


Colitis


Colitis responds very favorably to the omega-3 fatty acids found in cod liver oil. Irritable bowel syndrome and Crohn's also respond effectively to an addition of cod liver oil in the diet.


Cancer


The Vitamin A found in cod liver oil has been a part of every successful alternative treatment plan so far. Specifically, studies in China and Norway have shown that cod liver oil protected children from childhood leukemia, and adults against lung cancer.
