B12 Patch Side Effects

A vitamin B12 patch is intended for use as a supplement. Patients who are deficient in vitamin B12 may use this patch to correct their deficiency. However, it is not fully known whether the skin will absorb this vitamin, says eMedTV. Those who do use a vitamin B12 patch will place it on their skin, like a sticker, and the vitamin is supposed to be absorbed. This is supposed to deliver a consistent dose of this vitamin. There is a rare chance that patients will experience vitamin B12 patch side effects.

Cardiopulmonary Side Effects

Cardiopulmonary refers to the heart, lungs and structures in the body that transport blood (such as the veins and arteries). A vitamin B12 patch may cause cardiopulmonary side effects, such as chest pain, heart palpitations and breathing problems, according to Body Building for You.

Skin

This patch is applied to the skin so skin reactions are possible. It is also thought that an allergic reaction to the patch may lead to skin reactions. These skin reactions include hives, swelling, rash and itchy skin.

Sleep and Anxiety

Some patients may experience insomnia. Others may experience panic attacks or anxiety.

Other Side Effects

Other side effects may occur in patients using a vitamin B12 patch. These include mild diarrhea.
