Prevent White Hair







White hair is a common occurrence as we age, and many people just accept developing white hair as an inevitable part of growing older. However, there are those who develop white hair earlier than expected and for different reasons, and there is some reason to believe that the process of becoming gray or developing white hair can be slowed significantly by taking specific steps.


Instructions


1. Check your hormones. Get to the doctor at the first sign of white hair and ask for a hormone test. Sometimes individuals who have low levels of estrogen, progesterone or testosterone will develop white hair more quickly.


2. Check your nutrition. By getting enough vitamins through nutrition, especially iron, copper, B vitamins, folic acid, and iodine, you will ensure hair follicle health. Increase your intake of vitamin B12 in particular to decrease hair pigment loss that leads to white hair.


3. Take vitamins for your hair. In addition to regular vitamins, try adding a vitamin specifically formulated to contain biotin and other essential hair nutrients. Hair often gets the "leftover" vitamins and minerals because the vital organs use the majority of the daily intake.


4. Lower your stress level. Stress has been linked to premature graying of the hair. Because stress depletes the body of necessary vitamins and minerals, the follicle does not get the required amounts needed to retain pigment. You can learn to meditate, for instance, or do yoga or exercise to help control your stress levels.








5. Remember that heredity plays a role. In the end, if you have tried all the treatments, seen a doctor and still have white hair, look to your family. Heredity plays a very large role in how quickly we lose the melanin in our hair. There is only a certain amount in every follicle, and at some point, most of us will develop white hair.
