Prevent Stretch Marks With Almond Oil

Though stretch marks may not be completely avoidable, massaging with almond oil can lessen their severity. Stretch marks form in the middle layer of the skin when it is stretched beyond capacity and the collagen fibers tear. Daily massage with almond oil is a two-part preventative. The emollient qualities of almond oil will strengthen and nourish the skin so that it can resist tearing while massage prevents stretch marks by promoting blood circulation to the area. Not only will your skin benefit from the moisturizing properties of almond oil, but massage will do wonders to alleviate the stress of everyday life.

Instructions

1. Pour a small amount of almond oil into your hands and rub them together to warm the oil.

2. Apply the oil on the areas of your skin that are prone to stretch marks. The most common places for stretch marks are the thighs, hips, buttocks and belly, as well as the breasts for women.

3. Move your hands or a massage brush in gentle but firm rubbing motions as you work the oil into the skin. This is a very gentle massage to work the skin layers rather than the muscles.

4. Use small, circular motions as well to rub the almond oil into your skin. The smaller motions will ensure that the whole area is getting the massage and oil that it needs to stay supple and moisturized.

5. Repeat twice a day or as necessary, particularly after you come out of the shower or bath. Rubbing almond oil on your skin after a bath will help it to retain moisture.
