Homemade Vitamin E Oil Lotion

Homemade lotion is simple, and cost effective

Commercially-made lotions and creams can be very expensive, full of chemicals and not as good as the ones you can make at home with a few simple ingredients. The secret to making lotions at home is based on the same principle as making homemade mayonnaise: you beat an oil base with a non-oil base which reacts to form a creamy liquid---one we put on our sandwiches, the other on our skin. Making a vitamin E oil lotion is a simple first-time lotion making project, especially as vitamin E oil is great for the skin and is a powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory.

Instructions

1. Place the almond oil, steric acid and beeswax into a double boiler pot over medium heat until the wax is melted and the ingredients are fully combined.

2. Heat the distilled water on the stove in the other pot until boiling.

3. Place the water into the bowl if using hand beaters, or into the food processor. Slowly add the almond oil mixture to the water while beating continually.

4. Keep blending the mixture until it cools somewhat, then cut the vitamin E oil capsules and add the oil, discarding the gel capsule shell. Blend all the while.

5. Pour the lotion into the clean and dry jar once it has reached a thick enough consistency.
