Fix Papaya

A ripe papaya cut lenghtwise shows seeds and yellow skin

Papaya is a melon-like fruit with yellow-orange flesh. It has a green skin that turns yellow when it is ripe enough to eat. Papayas are a rich source of vitamins A and C, potassium, folate and fiber. Papayas are delicious and healthy for you to eat. Knowing fix or prepare a papaya will improve your dining experience.

Instructions

1. Select papayas that are firm with a yellow skin to eat immediately. Otherwise you can choose papayas that are slightly green. They will ripen in a couple of days if stored at room temperature.

2. Wash the papaya in cold water. Make sure that it is very clean, as papaya skin can be covered in an irritant that causes an allergic reaction in some people.

3. Place the papaya on a clean chopping board. Hold the papaya firmly with one hand and cut it in half lengthwise with the knife.

4. Separate the two halves of the papaya. Pick up each half in turn, and using a spoon, scrape out the seeds with a downward motion.

5. Cut each papaya half into two or three wedges. Use the knife to peel off the skin. Cut the wedges into small pieces and place in a bowl.

6. Pour the lime juice over the cut papaya to bring out the flavor. Refrigerate until required.
