High blood pressure affects nearly one in three adults in the United States. Since it is a silent disease, nearly one third of the sufferers do not even know they have it. Normal, healthy blood pressure is around 120/80 mmHg. There are many prescription medications available to help lower blood pressure, but before resorting to these, consider a change in your diet and an increase in certain vitamins to help achieve a healthy blood pressure.
Instructions
1. Take a vitamin C supplement daily to help lower blood pressure. Vitamin C lowers your risk for heart disease and protects and strengthens your arteries. It also prevents your body from creating free radicals which damage arteries, repairs existing artery damage and prevents plaque deposits. Vitamin C will also help increase good cholesterol (HDL) levels.
2. Add a vitamin E supplement to your daily routine as well, as it is the most active antioxidant that works with fatty cells in your body. It prevents your body from the effects of bad cholesterol (LDL) which reduces your risk of heart disease. Take 800 IU of vitamin E each day to prevent high blood pressure and heart disease.
3. Add vitamin A to your routine to aid the vitamin E in preventing the build up of LDL's in your arteries. Take 5,000 IU of vitamin E every day, to prevent heart disease and increased blood pressure levels.
