Consume Water For Weight Loss

Increase your water consumption to boost weight loss efforts.

Studies have shown that drinking an adequate amount of water daily can assist in weight loss efforts and help you lose more weight than dieting and exercise alone. Your body needs to remain hydrated, especially when you are exercising and sweating. Water can also help your stomach feel full, prompting you to consume fewer calories. Because water contains zero calories switching from soft drinks eliminates empty calories and contributes to weight loss.

Instructions

1. Calculate the number of ounces of water you need to consume daily. Drink one ounce of water for every two pounds of body weight if you are sedentary, and one ounce for every pound and a half of your body weight if you work out or live in a hot or dry climate.

2. Divide the number of ounces you need daily by the number of hours you are typically awake and consume that many ounces each hour.

3. Drink a glass of water when you get up in the morning, one before and during each meal, snack and workout, and one at night before you go to bed.

4. Find a water bottle you like, note how many ounces it contains and fill and drink it the appropriate number of times each day.

5. Add no or low calorie flavor packets, citrus slices or fruit to your water for an added vitamin or flavor boost if you find that consuming an adequate amount of water is difficult. Replace some of your ounces with no calorie sparkling water.
