Help The Side Effects Of Lupron Depot

Help the Side Effects of Lupron Depot

According to the FDA, while lupron depot is a recommended treatment for disorders--such as endometriosis, prostate cancer, precocious puberty, and anemia associated with leiomyoma--there are limitations to its use due to the health effects caused by the estrogen-lowering effects of this drug. While lupron has been associated with many side effects, there are some that are more common. Help yourself minimize or prevent those side effects.

Instructions

1. Talk with your doctor about your symptoms and concerns. As part of the treatment with lupron, a doctor can prescribe what is called add-back therapy to help with the more predictable side efffects--hot flashes and osteoporosis. She can prescribe a low-dose birth control pill and fosamax to help protect your bones.

2. Rely on your support system for emotional health. This will help you with the psychological and emotional side effects of lupron. Do research on this drug. Have a conversation with the people close to you about the possibility of depression, anxiety, severe mood swings, suicidal thoughts, and phobias. That way, they will be able to point out to you better ways of coping and also provide you with the support and love you will need as you go through this treatment.

3. Maintain a healthy diet. Avoid sodas, too much sugar, white flour, alcohol, and salt to maintain healthy bones. Healthy fats and oils will help prevent memory loss. A well-balanced, organic diet will help you avoid the weight gain associated with using this drug. Consume phytoestrogens--such as: red clover, soy bean, tofu, flax seed, wheat, oats, rice, lentils, fennel anise, apples carrots and pomegranates--to combat hot flashes. Take minerals for healthy bones and joints. Eat protein-rich foods to strengthen your immune system, and consume Vitamin C supplements to protect your eyesight.

4. Have an active lifestyle. Daily exercise will help with the mobility and strength of your joints and bones. An early walk in morning sun will give your bones the vitamin D they need to stay strong.

5. Keep a routine. Maintaining a schedule with predictable daily activities will help minimize your stress and the emotional side effects of lupron. That will help develop a sleep pattern to avoid insomnia. It will also help you cope with any memory loss if you get used to putting things in the same place. Develop a system of making notes to yourself and keeping an alarm clock handy.

6. Exercise your eyes. Lupron can make your vision blurry and cause your peripheral vision to diminish. Look at some greenery from time to time to rest your eyes. Take a few minutes away from the computer. Do eye exercises. Focus on looking at objects out of your range on your left and right side.

7. Exercise your brain daily. This will help you the unpleasantness of having a foggy brain. Do crossword puzzles. Play chess or cards. Read a lot, especially about topics that are new to you. Trying new recipes or taking on a project will help you plan and coordinate actions.
