Recommended B Vitamins

You should take a B complex vitamin daily.


The foods that we eat contain vitamins that are necessary for the proper functioning of the body. Some of these vitamins fall into the B complex category, which is a collection of different recommended B vitamins. It is helpful to know about each of these B vitamins, and which foods contain them.


B1


Vitamin B1 is called thiamin, and it supports the utilization of enzymes in the body. You can find B1 in whole-wheat bread, potatoes and liver.


B2


Vitamin B2 is called riboflavin, and provides energy for the body's organs. Vitamin B2 can be found in green vegetables and dairy products.


B3


Vitamin B3 is called niacin, and supports a healthy nervous system in the body. Vitamin B3 can be found in red meats, fish and beans.


B5


Vitamin B5 is called pantothenic acid, and helps the body grow normally. Vitamin B5 can be found in most foods that humans eat, especially rice, yeast, broccoli and avocado.

Vitamin B6 is called pyridoxine, and helps promote a healthy immune system. Vitamin B6 can be found in bananas, chicken and pork.








B7


Vitamin B7 is called biotin, and enables the body to make hormones properly. Vitamin B7 is found in grapefruit, egg yolks and mushrooms.


B9


Vitamin B9 is called folic acid, and helps the body produce healthy DNA. Vitamin B9 can be found in peas, beans and leafy vegetables.


B12


Vitamin B12 is called cobalamin, and promotes a healthy nervous system and growth. Vitamin B12 can be found in meat, dairy and eggs.
