Treat Prenatal Acne

Pregnancy is a time full of joy and excitement, but one of the side effects of pregnancy that is not so wonderful is prenatal acne. It's often said that women have a "glow" about them when they're pregnant. Well, that's because they have excess oil on their faces due to hormone production, and it can cause acne which is frustrating and embarrassing. During pregnancy, a woman is not supposed to use most normal acne treatments because they contain acids and other chemicals which can actually harm the baby. Instead, you have to go the all natural route.

Instructions

1. Wash your face twice a day (morning and night) with an all natural face wash such as Mario Badescu's cleansers (see Resources). For little pimples under the skin that are not red, use a drying cream which will dry out the pimple and kill it. For nodular cysts under the skin that are red and painful to the touch, use a buffering lotion which goes to the root of the problem under the skin and kills the bacteria.

2. Drink lots of water. The more hydrated you are the better. Water flushes out your system and helps your body deal with pore clogging bacteria which affects your skin.

3. Eat anti-oxidant rich foods. This will not only help your skin but also benefit your baby, as these foods are loaded with other vitamins and minerals that are essential to the baby's proper development. Green leafy vegetables, blueberries, cantaloupe and tomatoes are all great sources of antioxidants.

4. Exercise. Get moving because it will get your blood pumping and flowing which helps tremendously with skin care. The more blood that your body gets moving the better your circulation will be, and thus it will be capable of pushing out harmful bacteria, fighting infection and reducing oil levels. Exercise also helps prevent and treat stress, another leading cause of worsening prenatal acne.
