Birds, and parrots in particular, need access to full spectrum light in order to keep in top feather condition. Full spectrum light allows parrots to absorb Vitamin D, which is vital to their health, and aids in absorbing other vitamins. Once you've purchased your full spectrum bulbs, you can use a common light fixture to securely affix the light to the cage with only a little time.
Instructions
Installing your light
1. Insert the full spectrum bulb into the desk lamp and ensure the bulb is securely fastened to the fixture.
2. Clamp the light to the cage. Adjust the lamp's neck so the light is focused on the part of the cage where your bird spends most of its time.
3. To ensure the light stays focused, use a plastic zip tie to affix the neck of the light to the cage.
4. Install the cup hook by screwing it into the wall next to the cage, near the outlet where the lamp will be plugged in. Adjust the hook so it holds the cord away from the cage. This will prevent your bird from chewing on the cord.
