Prevent Hair Loss During Menopause







Menopause is a natural part of every woman's life and causes many symptoms, which include hot flashes and thinning hair. A large percentage of women in their forties and fifties reported losing their hair soon after the initial onset of menopause. This female hair loss is caused by lower levels of estrogen in the skin, although this is not the only cause of hair loss. There are several ways that this hair loss can be prevented, so women who are getting older can still enjoy having a full head of beautiful hair.

1. Eat foods that are rich in phytoestrogens, such as lentils and soy. Estrogen is the female hormone that helps the body maintain a healthy head of hair, and phytoestrogen is a naturally occurring substance that mimics the actions of estrogen in the body.


2. Introduce protein and iron into your diet. Both of these nutrients can be found in milk and will help your body produce healthy new strands of hair.


3. Eat a diet that is rich in vitamins A and D. Foods that are full of vitamin A include sweet potatoes, spinach, carrots and bell peppers. Vitamin D can be found in salmon, eggs and cod. Both vitamins will promote cell renewal and growth, and it is important for women of all ages to eat well to maintain a healthy head of hair.


4. Do not lie down on a wet head. Falling asleep with wet hair can cause more rubbing, which will cause you to lose more hair.


5. Do not pull on your hair when styling. Putting hair in a tight braid or pony tail can cause you to pull out more hair on top of what you have already lost.


6. Do not overuse hair styling products. Gels, mousses, and creams contain alcohol and can be very drying, and this can lead to more hair loss.


7. Use a mild shampoo and conditioner. This will keep your hair healthy and well moisturized, which will cause less damage and breakage.
