What Is Biosil

Health and beauty are the main concerns for most individuals. As a result, the health and beauty industries are coming out frequently with new products that are designed to improve one's aesthetics, energy and physical status. Dietary supplements are a big part of this market. Often these supplements are designed to focus on one or only a handful of things, such as improved joint mobility or clearer skin. One supplement that has multiple focuses is Biosil.

What is Biosil?

Biosil is a silicon-based dietary supplement designed to be taken orally. It is manufactured by Bio Minerals of Belgium and is available both as drops or capsules. The product originally was owned by Jarrow Formulas, but it is now marketed by the Natrol company.

Composition

Biosil's primary ingredient is silicon in the form of extremely concentrated orthosilicic acid. It also contains choline chloride and glycerine.

Benefits

Biosil is believed to improve the condition of joints, connective tissue, hair, bones and arteries. This is because the primary ingredient, orthosilicic acid (silicon), is required for the body to create collagen. Collagen is the protein that is most abundant in the body. Biosil also is thought to improve the rate of calcium absorption.

Dosage

It is recommended that Biosil users take six drops of Biosil (which in total contain 6mg of silicon in the form of orthosilicic acid) every day. The drops can be put into gel capsules, but the recommended manner of ingestion is to mix the drops with 1/4 cup of fluid, preferably some kind of juice. Each bottle of liquid Biosil contains 600 drops, or about 100 daily doses.

Cost and Purchase

Biosil is relatively inexpensive, with prices averaging about $30 per bottle. With 100 doses per bottle, this means that $30 buys a three-month supply. It would cost only $120 to use the supplement all year. It can be purchased both online and in health stores nationwide.

Side Effects

There are mild side effects that are associated with Biosil when a dose higher than the recommended dose is taken. These include digestive discomfort, diarrhea and bloating. Individuals who wish to start a Biosil regimen should do so only after consultation with their doctor, since, like any supplement, Biosil may impact other medications or affect individual health in ways of which the practitioner should be aware.
