2. Consider using Omega 3 oil in conjunction with other treatments. Rubbing it on the skin only or using creams that claim to include it may not be very effective. You need to ingest the Omega 3 oil daily. You are best taking it with food or milk a few times a day. If you take too much at once, it may be hard on your digestive system.


3. Keep a food journal of everything you eat and how much fish oil (or flax seed) you are taking, as well as dosage. Also note in the journal if you see any improvements in your skin. Note how much time it took to see results.

History of HPV


HPV (human papillomavirus) exists in more than 100 strains. About 30 strains are sexually transmitted, and 15 of the strains can cause cervical and other forms of cancer. In recent years, the HPV vaccine has generated political controversy in the United States.


Rabbit Research Hints at HPV


Details on when and how the first strain of HPV was discovered are sketchy, but the papillomavirus was first glimpsed as a disease by Dr. Richard Shope of Rockefeller University in the 1930s. A rabbit strain of papillomavirus often causes horn-like warts on infected rabbits. The cause of these warts weren't known at the time, but Shope experimented by taking samples of the warts, grinding them up and injecting them into healthy rabbits. The healthy rabbits soon developed the same warts. Shope didn't identify HPV, but he correctly deduced that the warts were caused by a virus.


HPV Discovery


Scientists discovered HPV as a virus found inside of skin warts via an electron microscope in 1949. As the years rolled on, researchers discovered multiple strains in various lesions and growths.


Blaming Herpes








By the 1970s, doctors had recognized that some kind of sexually transmitted disease was causing cervical cancer. Doctors had noticed that women with cervical cancer also tended to have genital herpes. Although this was a coincidence, doctors blamed herpes.


Linking HPV to Cervical Cancer


German virologist Harald zur Hausen proposed in 1976 that HPV, not herpes, was the cause of cervical cancer, a theory that other scientists originally rejected. In 1983 and 1984, zur Hausen discovered HPV DNA in cervical cancer tumors, proving his theory. In 2008, he received the Nobel Prize for this research.


Vaccine Controversy


After zur Hausen established a link between HPV and cervical cancer, researchers across the world began researching vaccines for the two strains of HPV most commonly linked to the cancer. Pharmaceutical companies developed two vaccines, Gardasil and Cervarix. The U.S. Federal Drug Administration approved Gardasil in 2006 and Cervarix in 2009.


Because doctors recommend that young girls receive the vaccine before puberty, to guarantee immunity before they become sexually active, many parents and religious groups have objected to vaccination. They argue that giving young girls a vaccine for a sexually transmitted disease is inappropriate and may encourage promiscuity.


Also, in a study published in the "Journal of the American Medical Association" (August 2009), Dr. Barbara Slade et al. found that a very small percentage of children who receive the vaccine experience fainting spells or blood clots.

3. Flaxseed oil and protein are two other important components when using vitamins for hair growth. Flaxseed oil is rich in omega 3 and 6 fatty acids, which are essential for hair growth. Most hair vitamins and multivitamins do not contain flaxseed oil, so you need to purchase it separately. I recommend at least 500mg of flaxseed oil daily. You also need to be sure you are getting enough protein in your daily diet, at least 22gr. A protein shake is a great way to ensure your daily dose of protein.

Avoid Foods That Contain Vitamin K

Vitamin K is found in dark leafy green vegetables, sprouts, herbal teas, peas and even some dairy products such as yogurt. This vitamin helps to maintain healthy bones and blood. However, some people people who take blood clotting medications, such as Coumadin, cannot consume excess amounts of vitamin K as the vitamin interferes with the effectiveness of the drug. Vitamin K can also interact with antibiotics, Phenytoin and Orlistat.


Instructions








1. Know which foods contain high amounts of vitamin K and limit or avoid these foods all together. Talk to your doctor before totally removing all vitamin K foods. Your doctor may recommend that you at least eat a small amount to prevent a deficiency. Excess vitamin K is what renders a medication ineffective, but your body still needs some vitamin K to function properly. Dark leafy greens, such as kale and spinach, contain the highest amounts of vitamin K, however other foods, such as parsley, turnip greens and sprouts, contain ample amounts as well. Kale has 530 micrograms of vitamin K in every cup.


2. Read food labels when shopping for groceries. Vitamin K is found in some processed or packaged foods, in addition to dairy products.


3. Eat other healthy foods that contain little to no vitamin K. Foods such as milk, carrots and celery contain vitamin K, but not quite as much as dark leafy greens. A cup of milk contains 5 micrograms of vitamin K, a cup of carrots 8, and a cup of celery 18. Choose foods with high doses of other vitamins and minerals such as calcium, magnesium and beta carotene.








4. Avoid eating salads with dark leafy green vegetables when eating out as restaurants. Iceberg lettuce is fine, because it doesn't contain vitamin K, but this food doesn't contain many other nutrients either.


5. Ask your doctor for a list of recommended foods.

Sources

Functions

Dosing


A typical vitamin D3 supplement is 25 micrograms (mcg), or 1,000 IU (international units), taken daily. At that level, there are no adverse effects for healthy individuals. Even taking twice the recommended amount for an extended period of time shows no bad effect. The National Institutes of Health indicate that adverse effects begin above 100 mcg, or 4,000 IU, although the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition says that difficulties may not begin until an individual takes 250 mcg, or 10,000 IU, per day.


Mild Effects


Mild effects noticed at the lowest overdose level above 100 mcg are constipation, nausea, vomiting, general weakness, mild dizziness, lethargy and weight loss. An overdose of vitamin D3 can also lead to frequent urination, extreme thirst, nervousness and itching.


Serious Effects


Hypercalcaemia, or high calcium levels, produced by taking large doses of vitamin D, creates high blood pressure, which can lead to heart disease by slowing blood flow to the heart. Calcium deposits from chronically high levels of vitamin D3 can produce kidney and bladder stones. Calcium toxicity can also lead to both anorexia and kidney failure by restricting fluid circulation throughout the body.


Allergic Reactions


Allergic reactions are the only adverse effect created by vitamin D3 not related to overdosing. Rashes, severe dizziness, difficulty breathing, or swelling of the face, tongue, or throat are all signs of an allergy and require immediate medical attention.


Medical History


Vitamin D3 supplements should not be taken by those with certain medical conditions, including pre-existing hypercalcaemia and difficulty absorbing calcium from food. Supplements complicate diseases of the liver, kidney and heart, plus immune system disorders like sarcoidosis. Tell your doctor before taking additional vitamin D if suffering from intestinal or digestive problems, including Crohn's disease, Whipple's disease, little or no stomach acid, or low levels of bile.


Drug Interactions








Side effects may result if someone takes vitamin D3 with blood pressure pills or heart medication.
