Vitamin D

B12 Vitamin Therapy

Vitamin B12 is important in DNA synthesis and blood formation. It is crucial in the creation of myelin, which is the insulation that protects nerve endings and facilitates communication between nerves. When you are deficient in B12, you will need therapy to regain the proper levels.


Intrinsic Factor


Symptoms of vitamin B12 deficiency include diarrhea, vomiting, fatigue, mental confusion, low red blood cell count, weakness and pallor. Pernicious anemia is probably the most well known cause of B12 deficiency. Pernicious anemia causes a lack of intrinsic factor. Intrinsic factor is an enzyme-like (unidentified) substance manufactured in the gut that binds with B12 to aid the body's absorption. With pernicious anemia, the body recognizes intrinsic factor as an invader and creates antibodies against it, eventually destroying the intrinsic factor, and even the stomach cells that produce it. B12 Injections


For those with severely depleted B12 levels, physicians will recommend an injection of vitamin B12. This allows the body to rapidly absorb B12 and bypass any intrinsic factor deficiencies. Oral B12


For vegans, or others with deficient B12 not related to intrinsic factor, supplementing B12 orally is the usual treatment. The patient will typically take 500 to 1,000 mcg daily. Food Warnings


There are definitely more foods that are safe for your parakeet than foods that are harmful or dangerous. You should note that the pits and seeds of the fruits listed above should not be fed to your parakeet. Make sure to clean the fruit of seeds and pits before giving it to your bird. Cherry and peach pits contain chemicals that can be toxic to your budgie. You should also steer clear of avocados. Use A & D Ointment

A & D Ointment may be used at every diaper change.


A & D ointment is best known as a treatment for diaper rash. The ointment contains petrolatum and lanolin which help prevent skin irritation by forming a barrier between your baby's skin and wetness from his diaper. Instructions


Diaper Rash


1. Clean your hands with a baby wipe or wash them with soap and water before changing your baby's diaper.


2. Remove the wet diaper from your baby. Avoid having your baby wear a soiled diaper for an extended period of time as this may result in diaper rash.


3. Cleanse your baby's buttocks and genitalia with baby wipes. Pad the diaper area dry with a towel. Avoid rubbing your baby's bottom as this may irritate the skin.


4. Cover your baby's diaper area in a generous amount of A & D ointment. Include his genitalia, buttocks and the skin folds in his thigh area.


5. Place a clean diaper on your baby and discard the soiled one. Use A & D ointment each time you change your baby's diaper, especially at night when exposure to soiled diapers may be prolonged.








Minor Burns








6. Fill a basin with cool water and soak your burn in it for five minutes to reduce any swelling. Use a mild soap to clean the area.


7. Apply a thin layer of A & D ointment to the wound area with a spatula.


8. Cover the burn with gauze and secure it by wearing gauze netting over it. Practice caution if you leave the wound uncovered as A & D ointment may stain your clothing.


9. Use A & D ointment each time you change the gauze until the wound has healed.


Tattoos


10. Wash your new tattoos with warm water and a mild antibacterial soap. Blot your tattoo dry with a towel. Avoid having any drops of blood on your tattoo as these may turn into scabs.


11. Spread a thin layer of A & D ointment over your tattoo. Use just enough ointment so that the area is shiny. Wipe off any excess ointment with a paper towel. Don't cover up your tattoo.


12. Apply A & D ointment to your tattoo whenever it feels stiff or at least twice a day for three days. Then switch to a fragrant-free moisturizer until the tattoo has healed.

Garlic and Pepper

3. Reapply the mixture after watering or a downpour. The garlic masks the scent of the seeds and bulbs, and the pepper irritates the squirrels.








Don't Feed the Squirrels


4. Feed your pets inside. If you have outdoor pets and leave their food outside, it will attract squirrels.


5. Remove bird feeders if squirrels are feeding at them. Bird seed attracts squirrels. Replace the feeders with squirrel-proof models.


6. Store all pet foods, bird seed and other squirrel attractants in squirrel-proof containers if you must keep them outside. A galvanized trash can is a good option.

7. Spread mothballs around your flower garden. The will act as a squirrel deterrent.

Pitbulls are extremely strong, muscular dogs. You need a combination of good quality feed, cardiovascular exercise and strength training to get them into peak condition. Both the owner and the dog need to work to achieve the desired results; you can't do it by tying a dog out with a heavy chain, collar or vest to walk around with. Well-conditioned dogs, just like well-conditioned people, require years of consistent, disciplined training.


Age and Feeding


Pitbulls should not begin training until they have reached at least 18 months of age. This assures that the dog has completed maturing and the bones, joints and muscles have completed growing. This prevents injury to immature dogs. But it is never too early to start setting the foundation for successful training with regular walks, games of fetch and tug-of-war, as well as jogging on soft surfaces.

Strength training comes in the form of weight-pulling. It is never acceptable to add weights to a dog and leave him to fend for himself. This does not promote the addition of muscle mass and can cause injury. Instead, fit the dog with a weight-pull harness and have him drag three to five pounds for a short distance at a walking pace. Repeat this exercise until the dog can drag the weight behind him easily. Adding another one or two pounds is acceptable; however, the better method of building lean muscle tone is to increase the distance and not the weight. This practice will not only increase the dog's muscle mass but will also increase his stamina.


Considerations


Don't rush the conditioning process. Proper conditioning will take years of patient and consistent effort by both you and the dog. It is a way of life, not a short-term quick fix. Trying to bulk up a pitbull too quickly will cause unnecessary injury and an unnatural-looking dog. Proper conditioning will build a happy, healthy, beautiful dog.

Herbalife nutrition clubs are located around the world with over 1.9 million independent distributors around the globe. The nutrition clubs occur in whatever location a distributor chooses. Some distributors hold the meetings in their homes, while others acquire office space or recreation rooms in gyms. The clubs are great for building support of weight loss, and establishing a community of people with a common purpose. Meetings include the sampling of Herbalife products, which are of course offered for purchase. The distributors are encouraged to also educate group members about their potential opportunities as a distributor.








Distributors


Many of the distributors know much about nutrition and fitness and are a great resource to help achieve your weight loss goals. Preparing For A Colonoscopy With Miralax

Planning Begins the Day Before








Advanced planning is necessary prior to beginning the first steps of colonoscopy preparation. The medical center where the procedure will take place should give all patients a short guide to the instructions regarding, eating, drinking and taking the Miralax. Review those instructions and be sure to call the digestive specialist if any questions arise or more clarification is needed regarding the instructions. Refer to the list of acceptable foods and beverages listed and purchase some of the foods and beverages that are allowed during the "fasting" period. During the Fasting Process

Gatorade, Propel and Pedialyte are good choices to maintain calories, vitamins and minerals. Drinking water and other acceptable beverages will also help with feelings of hunger. Beverages that are red in color are not recommended. Refer to the patient instructions for a list of recommended beverages. In the event beverages are not listed in the patient instructions, call the digestive health specialist to verify acceptable liquids.


The Miralax Cleanse


The initial laxative, which is typically in the form of a pill, is often directed to take approximately two to four hours before beginning the Miralax solution. After the indicated time has passed, mix the Miralax with Gatorade (unless the digestive health specialist indicated only water) and begin drinking. Try to drink eight ounces every 30-45 minutes. If nausea becomes an issue, wait 45-60 minutes before continuing the Miralax solution. It is important to drink the entire solution of Mira-lax. In some cases, a colonoscopy must be repeated due to the lack of cleansing. Upon taking the laxative and drinking the Miralax, the cleansing process may not begin for two to four hours.

The colonoscopy itself is a painless process. In most cases, after a regular colonoscopy procedure, patients typically are free from symptoms associated with having the procedure.

Home Remedy for Dry Hair Using Avocado


The avocado is a wonderful, complete food full of nutrients: vitamins A, b-complex, C, E, H, and K; essential minerals; more potassium than a banana; folic acid; Omega fatty acids; and every essential amino acid. With all this nutrition packed into one fruit, it's not surprising that avocados can benefit the outside of your body as well as the inside. The vitamins and creamy oil of the avocado make a super-moisturizing hair treatment that will leave your locks silky and naturally repaired.


Preparation


With a sharp knife, slice open the avocado lengthwise. Remove the pit by sticking it with the knife and twisting it out (be careful of your hands), or scoop it out with a spoon. Squeeze or spoon the green, fleshy part of the avocado into a clean bowl. Mash with a fork. Avocados go brown and spoil very quickly, so don't cut open the avocado unless you plan on using it immediately.


Basic Masque


A plain, mashed avocado makes a wonderful hair masque, without any additions. Separate your hair into easily manageable sections. Using your hands, massage the avocado into your scalp and work down the length of your hair, concentrating especially on the drier ends. Cover hair with a plastic shower cap or a towel. Heat will help the masque to penetrate the hair; you can apply heat with a hair drier for up to 20 minutes, or sit in the sun for an hour. If you're not using heat, leave the masque on for as long as possible before rinsing your hair in the shower.








Avocado, Olive Oil, & Egg








Mix the mashed flesh of an avocado with one egg yolk and a small amount of olive oil (try 1/2 tsp. for normal hair, and increase to 1 tbsp. for damaged hair). Apply to hair just as in the basic masque, wrap in a shower cap or towel, apply heat, and leave on for 20 to 30 minutes. In the shower, you'll need to use shampoo to get the olive oil completely washed out. Follow with your regular conditioner.


Other Additions


Create a different hair masque by adding one or more of these hydrating ingredients to your mashed avocado mixture: plain yogurt, a different oil (try almond, jojoba, or coconut), honey, mashed banana, lemon or lime juice, and aloe gel.


Avocado Oil Deep Conditioner


For extra-powerful conditioning, especially useful if your hair is fried, pick up a bottle of cold-pressed avocado oil at the grocery store. Warm the oil between your hands and massage into scalp. Then rub oil down the length of your entire head of hair (again, concentrate on the ends). Put your hair in a ponytail, towel, or shower cap, and leave on as long as possible -- if you don't have to leave the house, keep the oil on all day! This deep conditioning treatment will leave your hair incredibly soft and shiny when you shampoo it out.

At What Rate Does Hair Grow







The average person has approximately 100,000 strands of hair on his or her head. Each hair grows from an individual hair follicle on the scalp. Hair on the human head is different from hair on other parts of the body because its terminal length is much longer. For example, while the hair on your arms will naturally stop growing at a very short length, hair on the head will grow much longer.


Average Growth


While the growth rate of hair can vary depending on a number of factors, the average growth rate is between one and two centimeters per month or about half an inch. According to a 1991 article in the British Journal of Dermatology, hair tends to grow slightly faster in the summer than in the winter. This is probably due to the warmer weather, which increases blood flow to the scalp and can increase growth by about ten percent. Hair growth can also be affected by age, health, gender, length of hair and other biological factors.


Growth Phases


Your hair does not grow at a constant rate; hair actually grows in a cycle. These phases are called anagen, catagen and telogen. During the first phase, anagen, a follicle grows hair. People do not notice these cycles because each hair follicle follows its own cycle, and they are on different phases at different times. If all your hair follicles went through the cycle at the same time, you would actually be bald for a period of time.

Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is the leading cause of blindness in the US, and there is no cure for it. There are treatments, however, that help stave off the effects of this disease.
