A functional cardiovascular system must circulate blood at all times. To supply tissues with oxygen and nutrients, as well as remove carbon dioxide and wastes, blood cannot become stagnant and must maintain its flow throughout the body. Thrombosis, or clot formation, is a serious medical problem that can lead to significant tissue damage in a short time. D-dimer levels are a useful laboratory test commonly ordered by physicians to assess a patient's risk of clot formation.
D-Dimer Significance
Blood clots are highly dynamic structures. Far from being a permanent fixture, clots are temporary plugs designed to quickly form but remain transient enough to breakdown after serving their purpose. Instructions
1. Pour two to three tablespoons of olive oil into a small bowl. If using coconut oil, it will need to be melted into a liquid consistency so that the chamomile can be infused into it. To do this, heat one to two cups of water in a microwave-safe bowl. Measure two to three tablespoons of oil into a small bowl that will fit inside the bowl without having water touch the oil. Avoid direct heat when melting oils. Allow the oil to set and thicken.
2. Puncture five to seven vitamin E capsules with a sharp knife and squeeze the contents into a bowl. Vitamin E will help to soothe skin and prevent scarring. It is an antioxidant that will help preserve the shelf life of the ointment.
3. Chop the chamomile into a fine consistency of a finely-milled spice. Chamomile is an herb commonly used to soothe pain.
4. Infuse one tablespoon of the ground chamomile into the coconut or olive oil and vitamin E mixture. The rule for mixing herbs into oil substances is 1:2. For 1,200 mg of oil, the proper amount of chamomile would be 600 mg (or one tablespoon chamomile into three tablespoons of oil). Stir the mixture vigorously for one to two minutes.

Base Diet and Water
As a base diet feed your canary a seed mix formulated just for canaries. He'll eat about ½ tbsp., or ¼ oz., each day, according to canary breeder Ginger Wolnik of the Pacific American Singers Canary Club.
Your canary shells the seeds as he eats. By spreading a thin layer of seeds on a plate you'll help him find the whole ones. Provide only a small amount each day so he eats all the seed, getting some of each variety. If you'll be gone for a day or two, give him enough seed to tide him over but don't be surprised if he eats his favorite ones first.
Canary pellets are a tidier and more nutritious alternative than seed, because they have no shells and are fortified with protein and vitamins. Birds that haven't been raised on pellets, however, may not accept them.

Diet is essential for maintaining the color of red factor canaries. These birds have genes that allow owners to alter their feathers from yellow to red with the right diet. Feed a commercial color diet, or create your own by including cherries, red grapes, carrots, yams, or other red and orange fruits and veggies in your bird's diet when he is molting, so his new feathers are the desired color. If your dog has ingested rat poison, the complications can be serious and possibly life-threatening. If you know that your dog has consumed rat poison in large quantities (especially if you have a small dog), take your dog to the veterinarian. If your dog has consumed a lesser amount of rat poison, is a large dog, or if your dog has consumed the rat poison only within the past several hours, a few at-home treatments exist.
Instructions
1. Give your dog two teaspoons of hydrogen peroxide just after he eats the rat poison. If your dog is over 75 pounds, you may need to give an additional half-teaspoon. Because your dog will most likely not take the hydrogen peroxide willingly, administer it via a medicine dropper, or baby dropper. Gently open the dog's mouth and squeeze the dropper to shoot the hydrogen peroxide down its throat.
2. Keep your dog in a small area like a bathroom, preferably without carpeting. The dog will begin to vomit very soon after ingesting the hydrogen peroxide. Allow the dog to vomit until its stomach is emptied.
3. Give your dog a dose of activated charcoal. The dose will vary depending on the brand that you purchase, so ask a pharmacist or veterinarian about the proper dosage. The dosage will vary by the dog's weight and will be the same per pound as for a human. Again, the dog will not willingly take the activated charcoal, but it may be the most important treatment in saving your dog because it binds with the rat poisoning chemicals and doesn't allow them to absorb. If the activated charcoal does not come in a squeeze bottle, give your dog the activated charcoal with the medicine dropper.
4. Give your dog 5 mg of Vitamin K per 2.25 pounds of weight. If your dog is 20 pounds, you need to give your dog about 40 mg of Vitamin K. Do this twice a day for up to three weeks.
5. Encourage your dog to drink a lot of water a few hours after the activated charcoal treatment (but not before). This will help its system flush out the toxic chemicals, while also hydrating the dog after vomiting.

Linus Pauling was a scientist who performed groundbreaking research in the 1930s and 1940s on the structure of DNA and molecular medicine. He also joined with Albert Einstein and other scientists in protesting nuclear weapons. For his work, he received both the 1954 Nobel Prize in Chemistry and the 1962 Nobel Peace Prize, making him the only person to receive two unshared Nobel prizes.
At the end of his career, though, Pauling made a controversial claim--that Vitamin C could fight cancer. While his opinions were dismissed in the 1970s, recent research has given them new life.
Theory
In 2007, a study published in the journal "Cancer Cell" described a set of discoveries made about cancer growth in mice. These discoveries centered around the protein HIF-1 (short for hypoxia-induced factor 1). The HIF-1 protein helps cells compensate for a lack of oxygen. When cancerous tumors grow rapidly, they can easily consume all the oxygen in the area, creating a need for HIF-1.
But HIF-1 also needs a steady supply of free radicals to operate. So, the doctors hypothesized, a very strong dose of vitamin C or some other antioxidant could eliminate the free radicals that keep HIF-1 (and, by extension, the tumor itself) functioning. Indeed, the researchers discovered that, in the mice they tested, cancer growth was completely stopped in subjects treated with high doses of Vitamin C.
Controversy and New Research
Following Pauling's claims in the 1970s, scientists had tested the effects of Vitamin C on cancer and discovered essentially nothing. But those studies were only performed with orally ingested doses of vitamin C. The body naturally disposes of excess Vitamin C in urine. The only way to get an overwhelmingly high amount of Vitamin C in the body before it can be naturally disposed is through intravenous injection.
New research with IV doses of Vitamin C, also known as ascorbic acid or ascorbate, has had promising results. In 2007, a team of scientists published a report with the National Academy of Scientists whose abstract begins with the promising line: "Ascorbate (ascorbic acid, vitamin C), in pharmacologic concentrations easily achieved in humans by i.v. administration, selectively kills some cancer cells but not normal cells."
Treatments
There have been no clinical trials on humans for ascorbate treatment of prostate cancer. But such treatment is available, and the risk of side effects is virtually none, since Vitamin C does not affect normal cells.
